Every September during odd years, the American Swedish Historical Museum takes festival-goers back thousands of years. Attractions include mock sword battles, instructions in shipbuilding (which can be useful if you fear the Second Flooding), cooking demonstrations, plus educational classes for children in runestone rubbing and how to read the runic alphabet -- you know, useful stuff.
