UFO Encounter

Festival Location: Roswell, NM, USA

Festival State: New Mexico Festivals

Festival Type(s): Paranormal Festivals, Bizarre Festivals

The military town of Roswell is the home of the famous Roswell Incident. In July of 1947, a flying saucer was rumored to have crashed on a ranch northwest of town. Two nuns on duty at the St. Mary's Hospital, a couple enjoying a romantic rendezvous and a ranch foreman named Mae Brazel witnessed the crash. But hushed by the government, what these people saw went unreported, and the crash was not explored until 1970. Some profess this crash proves aliens exist. Some say no way. Both believers and skeptics come together for this annual July event.

There's fun for the whole Jetson family here (most of it is free), from an Intergalactic Fashion Show to the Trivia Star Quiz to tours of the International UFO Museum and Research Center to walks around the infamous crash site. And what other-world event would be complete without some Star Trek celebrities? Bring it on Sulu.
