Heather Hapeta - Travel Writer

Heather Hapeta

Heather Hapeta

Based down-under, in her home country New Zealand, Heather Hapeta draws courage and inquisitiveness from her adventurous forbears who left Cornwell, Scotland, Ireland and England in the mid-1800s for New Zealand. She too loves to travel, and for the past ten years has combined her passion for writing with those travels by reinventing herself as a travel-writer, and now has published hundreds of articles in magazines and newspapers in many parts of the world.

She has also written a travel memoir – Naked in Budapest: travels with a passionate nomad (ISBN 978-0-473-11675-0: published June 2007), and this book is available via her website www.kiwitravelwriter.com or her distributor www.nationwidebooks.co.nz.

Naked in Budapest: travels with a passionate nomad describes how at fifty she runs away from home, then, whether being charged by a hippo, is trying to sit cross-legged and meditate at a Buddhist retreat, or is living with a young lover; this woman seems to revel in it all. No wonder she reinvented herself.

Heather Hapeta has a regular travel column and a monthly travel piece on-air (for details see her website) and is available for commissions and / or media trips.

Some previously published pieces are available from www.freelancemarket.co.nz for purchase.

Contact her on heather@kiwitravelwriter.com if you want to publish her work in the print media or have story you want written about New Zealand. Heather has just returned from Thailand, Singapore and India and has many new stories and adventures from those regions.
