Donald Gilliland Bio
Donald Gilliland is a native of Orlando, Florida, where he lived for 37 years until moving to Thailand in 1996. A graduate in journalism from the University of Central Florida, he edited and wrote for several regional music publications before opening Murmur Records, a retail music store, in 1983. Alobar Books & Music followed in 1992.
For the past 6 years he has lived in Bangkok, Thailand. After managing stores in Bangkok for Tower Records, he taught English and wrote for several Internet travel sites. Until recently he was a copywriter for a Bangkok-based marketing firm. But the retail itch struck again and in August 2002 opened the Lazy Mango Bookshop in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
