Tony Burton

English-born Tony Burton has an MA in geography from Cambridge University and a post-graduate teaching certificate from London University. He lived full-time in Mexico from 1979 to 1997 and returns there several times a year.

He is a freelance writer, educator and ecotourist consultant. He has led hundreds of fieldwork and ecotourist programs throughout Mexico, specializing in Lake Chapala, Paricutin Volcano, the Monarch Butterfly reserves and the Copper Canyon.

Bilingual (English-Spanish), he has translated several books in addition to writing more than 200 travel, natural history and ecotourist articles on Mexico. His acclaimed guide, "Western Mexico: A Traveller's Treasury" describes ecological, cultural and historical wonders in west Mexico, covering both famous sites and little-known gems.
