For about 24 years, I was a small town attorney in private practice in Northern California. Three years ago I was appointed County Counsel for Trinity County, California. I am married and have two sons, ages 23 and 20.
In 1998 I was looking for a place to build a winter vacation home and fell in love with Cozumel. The original plan was to build a duplex so family and friends could visit us and still have privacy. I got carried away and built a 6 unit townhouse style vacation complex with all the amenities of home, but included daily maid service, pool, a/c, etc. This is Casa Martillo's second year and although it is not full, it is doing well. The proof of success is that many guest have now returned for the second or third time in the last two years.
I enjoy traveling and learning about new cultures. One thing I really like about Cozumel is the warmth of the people. My wife and I were there recently and when we walked out the gate a lady stopped and offered us a ride. We had never met her and she did not know us, but lives a few houses down. You do not experience that type of friendliness in many places in the world today.
