Sigurdur H Stefnisson

Sigurdur H Stefnisson has been involved in photography since the age of seven. With photography as his number one hobby for almost 30 years he has specialized in nature photography, bird photography in particular. Other hobbies like hiking and exploring the highlands fit in nicely with his photography and provide opportunities to shoot in unique locations.

His professional career is just the other side of the coin as he's been running his own photo lab since 1986 and is highly regarded among professional photographers many of whom have used his services extensively. Working with medium format and using Pentax 67 system as his main the technical quality of his work is on par with his professional standards.

In 1985 Siggi started to photograph the Northern Lights and has since developed techniques to capture this difficult to photograph phenomenon on film. His photographs are starting to appear more often internationally and one of his shots was chosen to be in National Geographic Special issue "100 best photographs" featuring the 100 best photos that have appeared in National Geographic.

For transport into difficult to reach places during winter he uses his Nissan specially modified super truck. The galleries listed below show but a small portion of Siggi's excellent work and are proof that he is one of the leaders in photographing the Northern Lights.
