Martin Trenkler - Travel Photographer
Martin Trenkler
A long-time Formula One enthusiast, Martin Trenkler grew up in the remote mountain resort of High Tatras in northern Slovakia (former Czechoslovakia). He picked up his first camera at the age of 16.
When Martin was 18 his passion and knowledge of F1 led him to become a journalist and photographer for a new Slovakian F1 magazine. He quickly developed his skills and within 12 months was shooting several Formula One races as an accredited photographer. A year later (2003) he left University where he had been studying journalism to pursue his dream of working full time as a photographer and went to Germany to work in a studio with the legendary F1 photographer, Rainer Schlegelmilch. That year he established his own photographic agency, selling pictures and articles for various magazines, mainly in the Czech and Slovak republics.
Martin’s talent was later recognised by Formula One Management and he went on to work for that company during the 2004 season. Their good working relationship still lasts.
Martin has been covering F1 since Austrian Grand Prix in 2002. Since then, under the guidance of F1’s renowned photographers, Martin has learned the ropes of art photography while at the same time experiencing the challenges and excitement of working as a freelance Formula One photographer.
