Paul Gapper - Travel Photographer
Paul Gapper
I started photography in 1986 when I travelled to India for the first time. I bought a Canon T70 - in its day a very good camera. Thousands of pictures later and thousands of pounds out of pocket, I now have a canon EOS3, EOS 30V Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8 L USM, Canon 24-85 mm lenses and a Canon Extender X2.
Fortunately I now sell many photos from my website, and from agencies such as the world religions photo library and Alamy.com. I have had images published for the BBC, Dorling Kinsley, a major UK supermarket, Thomson, Overseas Adventure Travel Chicago and a lot more.
Over the last five years I have been working very closely with Christine Osborne who runs the world religions photo library and with her guidance have furthered my photographic skill considerably. I spend a lot of my weekends at various religious services and festivals and travel all over the country. I went to Panama to photograph the Black Christ Festival, which is not very well known outside of Central America but with tourism slowing developing in that country, hopefully one day the pictures could be used. A lot of the pictures that I take for world religions are used for education purposes so it is very important to get the festival or religious service information correct.
I hope to one day be able to give up my day job in order to concentrate on my photography full time.
