Odense was the birth place and childhood home of Hans Christian Andersen and this year the Odense International Film Festival will celebrate his bicentenary with a very special programme indeed.

Denmark's world-famous writer of fairytales' works will be featured on the big-screen when the Odense International Film Festival swings into action in August. On show will be a bonanza of fantastic Andersen films - documentaries, short films and fictional films with a wide geographical range - for not only is his work read the world over, he also inspires film-makers from every continent. The films on show will range from classics through to comtemporary works, and there will be airings in the city's cinemas suitable for audiences ranging from children through to adults.

In addition to the Hans Christian Andersen program the traditional program will also include short and documentary films from all over the world.
