This is Rhode Island's single lame-ass entry. No, it's not the World Scrabble Championship, which will be held in 2001 in New York City, this is just the National Scrabble Championship, and it's not even a regular gig. The nationals and the world events swap years and always change locations.

But for die-hard Scrabblers, it doesn't matter where the event is held, just as long as they get to use those U-less Q words, vicious vowel dumps and two letter teasers. Close to 600 men and women over the age of twenty pay $75 to enter this barnburner held every November.
