National Quartet Convention
National Quartet Convention
By: © Nelson Taylor 2012
This is the oldest Southern gospel quartet convention in the nation, held every September since 1957. It is also the largest, attracting crowds up to 60,000 who pour into the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center's Freedom Hall to hear some 80 quartets belt out their religious songs. Also on hand are pulpit-pounding motivational speakers, plus musical and spiritual vendors (Bible salesman). The $20 ticket price is worth all the laughs you'll get from all the bad hair pieces.
