Middle of Nowhere Celebration

By: © Nelson Taylor 2012

This one takes the cake for the saddest excuse for a gathering. Every June, the poor people of Ainsworth celebrate their boring lives in the "Middle of Nowhere" with wacky events such as a fashion show for 5-year olds, a parade and fireworks. Truly incredible!

Yet, it gets even more depressing...the town's nickname came from Walter Ray Williams, a pro bowler, who mentioned on national television that he was traveling to the "Middle of Nowhere" for the World Horseshoe Tournament, which they hosted in 1986. Get a life, Ainsworth!
