Kendall Calling

Held in the picturesque, rolling hills of Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District, Kendal Calling plays host to some of the UK's most acclaimed live acts on their intimate and unique stages.

Kendal Calling is a three day, independent, grass roots festival located in evergreen Lakeland hills. They have a penchant for games and hedonistic high jinks and an almighty eclectic ear for musical talent. With an annual beer festival, circus shows and themed fancy dress parties, Kendal Calling caters for all minds and imaginations.

Music in the Kendal Calling meadow spans 8 distinct and diverse stages in a close-knit site that means you're never far from your friends:

Main Stage - A stunning outdoors arena with a natural amphitheatre lined by ancient Oak trees plays host to an array of handpicked, award winning, international and current artists. By day sit beneath the trees and soak up the sounds, by night be part of epic star lit headline performances.

Dance Tent - Expect a diverse dance line-up bursting at the seams across all genres with everything from house to disco, drum and bass to dubstep, electro to breakbeat and everything else in between. Renowned DJs and live dance acts from the UK and around the globe take the reins.

Kaylied Tent - Hosts a contemporary twist on traditional folk music, inviting internationally renowned artists alongside local heroes. This stage showcases non-corporate, grassroots folk artists at their finest and is a true celebration of the UK's original dance music!

Crossiant Neuf – Europe's biggest solar powered stage and Glastonbury's longest running area comes to Kendal Calling. An infectiously charming area with beautiful décor, absolutely everything in Croissant Neuf runs on sustainable energy including the LED stage lights and huge soundsystem. Complete with bandstand and warm, friendly atmosphere to boot, Croissant Neuf is jam packed with new discoveries, fun and frolics.

Cafe Serren Cinema and Stage - Absurdity, buffoonery, distraction, diversion, escapade, festivity. These all go hand in hand at the Café Serran where anything goes providing it's FUN! This cinema, café and stage is rocking with comedians, mud Jacuzzis, burlesque troupes, films and 12-piece transvestite covers bands dazzling to have you grinning like Cheshire cats.

The Sopabox - Everyone loves a house party and we're having our very own decorated out to be the Kendal Calling living room. Put your feet up and lounge in The Soapbox home to storytelling, talks, and comedy. Expect to be enchanted, enlightened, and entertained in the Kendal Calling household!

Calling Out Stage - We've been calling out for new music, always supporting new talent Kendal Calling hosts the best up and coming acts performing a variety of styles and genres with one thing bringing them together - a thirst and energy for performing and innovation. This is the place to witness the most exciting new music from across the UK.

Kids Area - For big kids and little ones alike, enjoy workshops on percussion making and music, movement and mask making, plus story telling and creative writing along with an array of games and activities running all weekend.

Garden of Eden - Our very own Garden of Eden, this Utopian garden where East meets West provides the perfect backdrop for true escapism. Discover the garden and celebrate the East – from Morocco to Japan. Place your wish on the Elysium tree, have a massage, try homeopathic treatments, or simply relax in an area of serenity away from the rest of the festival buzz.

Peaceful Progress - Peaceful Progress is a touring creative posse consisting of Graffiti artists, Breakdancers, DJ's, sculpture artists and holistic therapists. As Peaceful Progress says "We are all about pushing the boundaries of the urban arts and mixing it with a positive holistic message. Seek us out at Kendal Calling this year with our Solar powered Gallery, environmental graffiti murals, graffiti inspired sculpture and our fresher than fresh breakdancing crew. "Alternatively have a piece of yummy organic cake and succumb to some reggae-romatherapy in the yurt!"

The Village Green - There is nothing better than finding a little common ground and meeting some new faces. You will find delicious treats to eat, a relaxed atmosphere by day and a bustling vibe by night – it's even got its own pub The Holy Quail!

Cumbrian Troop Olympics - Here ye, here ye the Cumbrian Olympics is upon us, so gather your troops and enter the field of battle! Come together and get involved in the games with everything from shot putting with water balloons to tatty tossing!
