Just good old boys, yep, that's Michael Streit and Aneesh Sehgal, President and Founder of the Dukes of Hazzard Fan Club, who since 1998 have hosted a convention every July in various locations around the United States, but most recently in Covington. (The Dukes of Hazzard, starring the infamous Wopat-Schnieder flaming arrow-shooting duo and the short-shorted lovely Miss Daisy, is a television show that aired from January 26th, 1979 to February 8th, 1985.) Streit is a certified Dukes nut. "I've followed the show since its premiere," he says. "I've owned 1969 Dodge Chargers even before the series began. I've loved chargers ever since I was a young kid, watching them drag race on the streets of my hometown of Aurora. It was a dream come true for me to see them selected as the bright orange "General Lee" in a weekly t.v. series." God bless him!
Fans and freak-watchers alike will love this convention, where special guest appearances have included the likes of Ace Parker (the original moonshiner), Enos the deputy, and even Coo-Coo-Cooter, the friendly greaseball mechanic. On display are personal Dukes collections, rare memorabilia and titillating merchandise. This convention, which costs $30 for the public, is a little unorganized, so make sure you write or email to confirm dates and locations.
