Decades Festival

Every August, Cork city steps into a time warp as the Decades Festival kicks off two days of music, fun and fancy dress. Set in the bars and clubs across the city, each venue chooses a decade and then decorates their bar, dresses the staff and plays music from that period for the whole weekend.

You will see Cork city centre bars transformed into bygone eras, from 1920’s gin joints to 40’s swing, 50’s rockabilly, 70’s disco, 80’s pop to 90’s raves.

Dubbed as Ireland’s largest fancy dress party, customer participation is obligatory as venues and clientele alike get into the swing of things with fantastic outfits and themes over the entire weekend.

This unique festival lets you step back in time and relive the decade you loved best. So plan your outfits, practice those dance moves and be camera ready for the one weekend of the year where you can dance like your granny and look cool in the process.
