Bulgaria Country Guide
Traveller's Guide to Bulgaria
Since the parting of the iron curtain, Bulgaria has changed dramatically surging onward and upwards toward a free market economy on the back of it's beginning-to-boom tourist industry and a Bulgarian real estate boom to match that of the Spanish costas in the 80's and 90's.
Bulgaria boasts a large number of diverse, travel destinations, and although independent travel is not yet the norm, more and more people are discvovering the delights of one of Eastern Europe's wonders. The country offers an abundance of majestic mountain scenery as well as alluring sandy beaches on their Black Sea coast. You'll find ski resorts, deep forests, ancient monasteries, Greek and Roman remains and the fascinating capital Sofia is a must for any visit to Bulgaria. Picturesque Veliko Turnovo, the ancient capital, is a young and vibrant city that should also be high on your list of Bulgarian 'must sees'.
