A RUM DO Summer Weekender
Festival Location: Abergavenny, Wales
Festival Type(s): Varied Music Festivals, Arts Festivals
The A RUM DO Summer Weekender is a three day festival within the grounds of the famous Baskerville Hall - a grand old manor house and also the real-life inspiration for Conan Doyle's 'Hound of the Baskervilles'. The venue is where the Big Chill started out and gained their reputation for creating a special and intimate festival vibe. The weekend creates a similar feel, but with a strong emphasis on cabaret fun and luxury. By day: swimming pools, open air stage, walkabout oddities and pampering opportunities. By night: a beautiful Spiegal tent and other unusually shaped tents (Big Top free zone) host big cabaret performances showcasing choice acts, high wire, top comedians, dancers and obscure artistes.
After cabaret shows end, the artistes go walkabout and the venues transform into party zones, and DJ's encourage a big knees-up late into the night thanks to a 24 hour drinks and entertainment licence.
Other attractions include a specially commissioned Geisha House, Sleeping Bag and Canapés cinema, fully operational Inflatable Church, five star waited-table service restaurant, a 150 seated Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant with 'Beer Bots' and hotplate mastery, plus many more onsite eateries, all set in balmy countryside with the striking Black Mountains as the festival backdrop. Camping is free and for those who prefer other types of accommodation Tipis, Busbeds and Beach Huts can all be booked from the website.
