450-Mile Outdoor Festival

This event is original because it doesn't exist just in Covington, KY. It starts there and ends 450 miles away in Gadsden, AL. The route is the US Highway 127 Corridor and the Lookout Mountain Parkway. And it isn't really a festival. It's more like the World's Largest Yard Sale, taking place for a long weekend every mid-August.
Some 100,000 people stop and browse through the seemingly endless array of junk. The tourism departments for Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee all get together to pull this off. Why? They want the rest of the world to witness the historic, back-road towns of the south -- and, of course, to increase their revenue. It's all a ploy to rob rich folks blind.
